Our Head of Software Engineering, Gordy Wills was invited by the Edinburgh Science Festival 2021 to discuss how smart digital technologies can support environmentally-friendly food growing systems and reveal how computers can be the controllers and encouragers of growth whilst using the minimal possible levels of natural resources.

The eye-opening event was presented by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and was chaired by Dr Hannah Rudman of SRUC. Alongside Dominic Gammon, The Aquaponics Gardens, Gordy considered whether a complex digital information system made of hardware and software could be the answer to sustainable farming.
